Why would taking frequent breaks from computer screen help avoid eye strain and problems?
I have diabetes and am always concerned with the health of my eyes.....but was researching up on this topic and found this,
"taking frequent breaks from computer screens to help avoid eye strain"
My question is why just sitting there at a computer screen be any different then sitting there on a park bench looking at pigeons?
I know you get carpeltunel with your hands if used too often without breaks on the keyboard or mouse.....
......but your eye's staring at the screen???

its very simple. when eyes look at any near object lesser than 2 feet, eyes have to use the power of accomodation in order to focus at the near object. power of accomodation works from 5cm to 45cm maximum to minimum respectively. so more closer u try focus at an object more power of accomodation u use and earlier ur eyes get tired.
so to relax the focussed eye muscels u r advised to take regular breaks while doing any near work like reading or computer.
where else looking at distance greater than 2 feet eye muscles are relaxed and dont use any power of accomodation.
