Steinway, Bosendorfer or Fazioli?
I'm going to buy a baby grand piano.
I'm going to test them personally but I want to ask you guys too.
I want a piano that has a sound that's described by the following words "light, rainbow, sounds like a music box)
you know the opposite of velvety and warm?
Have you priced the pianos yet? If not you may find that they are very expensive.
For the home I would not want a piano smaller than 5'-7" and 6' plus would be more desirable. Baby grands are just too small to sound great regardless of the manufacturer.
As Malcolm D pointed out Yamaha has a bright sound, however I would not want one smaller than the C3 (6'-1"), If you want to stay away from Asian pianos, you might try Bohemia from the Czech Republic. They are known for their singing tone.
You might look at good restored pianos. The prices will be a lot less.
